Durasid Foresta Cladding Installation in Horsham

Timber cladding replacement in Horsham

The Challenge

This Horsham property was showing signs of age, with the existing timber cladding becoming weathered and tired across the elevation. The external construction also required upgrading to improve insulation and weather protection, while several elements including the windows, ventilation and rainwater goods required attention. The aim was to completely renew the external envelope with a durable, low-maintenance cladding system while improving the property’s thermal performance and protecting the underlying structure.

The Solution

We began by erecting scaffolding to provide safe access to the elevation before removing the existing timber cladding. Two new windows were installed, while the exposed structure was inspected and new timber installed where required. We then fitted 75mm foil-backed insulation to improve the thermal performance of the elevation, followed by a new breather membrane and treated timber battens to provide the correct substrate and ventilation behind the cladding.

New ventilation pipework was installed and lead flashing renewed where required before our cladding specialists fitted African Padauk Durasid Foresta cladding, complete with the required ventilation and aluminium trims. The project was completed with new guttering and a replacement downpipe, providing a fully renewed and cohesive external finish.

FAQ’s

What is African Padauk Durasid Foresta cladding?

African Padauk Durasid Foresta is a premium external cladding finish designed to replicate the natural appearance of timber while providing a durable, low-maintenance alternative. The Foresta range features a realistic woodgrain texture and rich African Padauk colour, creating a contemporary natural-wood appearance without the ongoing painting and staining typically associated with traditional timber cladding.

Is Durasid Foresta cladding low maintenance?

Yes. Durasid Foresta cladding is designed to provide the appearance of natural timber without the regular painting, staining and treatment required by traditional timber cladding. This makes it a practical choice for homeowners looking for a durable and attractive exterior with minimal ongoing maintenance.

Does Durasid Foresta cladding improve insulation?

The cladding itself forms part of the external building envelope, but the main thermal improvement in this project came from the installation of 75mm foil-backed insulation behind the cladding. Combined with the new windows, this significantly upgraded the thermal performance of the elevation.

Why was 75mm insulation installed behind the cladding?

The 75mm foil-backed insulation was installed to improve the thermal performance of the external wall construction. It also forms part of a properly designed cladding system, installed behind a breather membrane and ventilated cavity to help protect the building fabric.
